All the Small Things

Recently, I was lucky enough to photograph a small, family-only wedding reception. If you know me well, you know this is not a first and that I find each event just as special as the last. So, why do I write about this specific one? Simply, because of the approach I was asked to take. In addition to the traditional family shots, the grooms asked me to mainly focus on the decor, as well as candids of their guests. As much as I love photographing families, now, I was in my element.

These newlyweds made my job incredibly easy. The house was decorated beautifully and there were so many shots I could not wait to take.

But, after all the flowers and center pieces, I still had these candids to attack! While photographing these requires being in the right place at the right time, loving moments were all around me.

I was so grateful to be a part of this day. Truly, weddings are all about the small things. Yes, the vows and the dances and the cake cutting are all must-have shots. However, there is so much beauty in the stolen kisses, briefly flashed smiles, and the decor that took hours to perfect. Find those, and you're bound to capture the moments worth encapsulating forever.
